Magical lockets - magical moments - magical love across the generations.

With the release last week of Cinderella I've been in contact with many reviewers.
One in particular, Ferne, had a story of her own to add to my Cinderella story and the magic locket.

I needed to share it with all of you. It was very special.

Reading "Cinderella Had It Easy" was such a joy! I loved the story! There are some moments in life when things all come together in a perfect timing sequence.  On Saturday evening I was captivated by the story that Cami shared with her girlfriends about the visit with her grandmother and the description of an exquisite locket that the grandmother had owned as a young woman. As I continued to read about the possibilities of the magical locket, I was simultaneously savoring some very endearing memories from earlier in the day.

As a family we gathered at the assisted living facility for a luncheon with my mother-in-law in honor of her 93rd birthday. It was so exciting to have the family together and celebrating on the actual day of her birthday.

On a Friday night FB post, my husband's daughter shared pictures of the special gift that she was going to present to her grandmother. Last year as grandmother and granddaughter were spending time together sorting and packing before my mother-in-law moved from the family home, an old ring was discovered in her jewelry box. The granddaughter didn't understand why her grandmother was keeping an old ring that had obviously been cut and could no longer be worn. The grandmother shared the story that the ring was a gift from her mother when she was 16 years old. At some point in time, the ring had to be cut off the grandmother's finger to be removed. She saved it in her jewelry box.

My husband's daughter had the ring made into an beautiful locket as a birthday gift for her grandmother. I had the description of Cami's locket from her grandmother in my mind and I could picture it being lifted from the small, worn satin pouch with a silver chain and made of ivory with onyx behind it. But there was another part of my mind that was playing an extraordinary video of the sweet and treasured memory of another granddaughter so lovingly helping her grandmother with a ruby locket on a gold chain. Magical lockets - magical moments - magical love across the generations.

Great Review for Love Potion Number 10

"Love Potion Number 10 is an enjoyable, tender love story leaving you wanting more.  What do  you do when the man you are in love with doesn't notice you or love  you back.  You get a love potion to make him fall in love with you.  What happens when your plan backfires and you end up at symphony with another co-worker?  Everett never noticed Royce before.  He is gorgeous and they have a lot in common.  Royce has secretly been in love with Everett for a while but was afraid to ask her out.  Will a night of passion make Everett realize she was never truly in love with her boss but what she want is a right in front of her?  Sometimes what we are looking for is right in front of us. You will have to read the book to find out what happens next.

I absolutely love this love story. I am a hopeless romantic and I love happily ever afters.  Jennifer Conner is an amazing author with a lot of passion and romance in her stories.  I really enjoy her writing and I am looking forward to reading more of her books.  I highly recommend  you read Love Potion Number 10 and any books by Jennifer Conner.  You will not regret it.  She is a wonderful writer who has become one of my favorite authors. I am looking forward to reading more of her books in the future. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next. 5 stars."

Author Questions from Cold Coffee Cafe

I've found a fun new blog site http://coldcoffeecafe.com/profile/JenniferConner that joins writers and readers. I was a guest blogger yesterday and here are my questions:

What makes you proud to be a writer from (fill in your Location)? I love living in the Seattle area and being surrounded by such positive writing role models. Debbie Macomber lives just a few miles away and started my writing chapter.

What or who inspired you to become a writer? I have had many influences in my life. My mother was always a writer, though never published. I wish she had lived to see me a published author. My writing influences are the local authors who have helped me along the way on this journey. My favorite author is Diana Gabaldon, I’ve been an Outlander addict for 15 or so years.

When did you begin writing with the intention of becoming published? About 10 years ago. At that time, I started entering contests. I won three national contests and got a one on with one of the big six. This helped me to believe that I was doing something right.

Did your environment or upbringing play a major role in your writing and did you use it to your advantage? I still live in the hundred year old house I grew up in. I look outside my office window and watch the deer and squirrels. My mother always influenced my creative side. I have always leaned that way. I ran a successful wedding photography and catering business for over 15 years before starting my publishing company 5 years ago.

Do you come up with your title before or after you write the manuscript? Sometimes. Not always. I usually print off visuals of the hero and heroine to keep them in my mind.

Please introduce your genre and why you prefer to write in that genre? I write in romance, novel length, novella and short stories. Historical Romance, Romantic Suspense, Paranormal Romance and Erotica. I write romance because I am always a sucker for a happy ending. There is too much unhappiness out there to spend my time in those unhappy people’s heads!

What was your inspiration, spark or light bulb moment that inspired you to write the book that you are seeking promotion for? In the last few years I have been writing a lot of short stories that are in anthologies with other best-selling authors. It’s a fun way to write since we can all cross promote and share ideas. My last published short is called, Love Potion #10. I had the idea, what if my heroine went to have a love potion concocted so her boss would fall for her. But then, after a mix up, she spends the night with a co-worker. Had she given the potion to the wrong man? And now what was she going to do?

What has been your most rewarding experience with your writing process? Helping new and upcoming authors become the best they can be at their craft.

Have you had a negative experience in your writing career? If so please explain how it could have been avoided? Oh, yes, of course. After winning those national contests all I got back from the editor was “There’s no such thing as bikini barista.’ Which is funny since there are 3 bikini barista coffee stands in my town. That was when I thought, I need to do this on my own, start my own company to publish my stories and others who deserve respect for all their hard work.

What has been your most rewarding experience in your publishing journey? Hitting #1 on Amazon and in the top 50 authors and being next to some BIG names. J
Have you had a negative experience in your publishing journey? If so please explain how it could have been avoided? The 1st publisher I signed with just wasn’t serious. They never sent me a check or wouldn’t release the stories after they went under. I’ve never worked harder than trying to be a good writer and deserved more respect from the publisher.

What one positive piece of advice would you give to other authors? Join a critique group and listen to their feedback. Try to get in with different genres of writers, it will help flesh out your writing. Don’t put something out until it’s ready.

Who is your favorite author and why? Diana Gabaldon. She writes such amazing layered sagas. I love that ALL her characters including her heroes and heroines are flawed. They have done some REALLY dumb things and made terrible decisions. This makes me love them more. No one is perfect so they shouldn’t be written like that. Don’t only make the good guys good and the bad guys bad. They are much more interesting if you add a little to both.

Is there anything else that you would like to share with us?
Please add questions and the answers to any questions that you believe your readers would like to know.
How many published books do your have? 57 titles in ebook, paperback, and audiobook.
Which book title would you like featured in this interview?
Love Potion Number 10

If you are a multi-book author please tell me three of YOUR favorite (published) book titles:
I’ll be Seeing You through Time (a time travel romance I wrote for my mom so she could have her happy ending.)
The Empress of Ireland (This is part of The Places to See Series, and I wrote it after traveling to Ireland.)
Christmas Dog Tags. (I have a big dumb lab who’s a shelter dog. He inspired me to write a series of three Christmas stories that revolve around dogs.)

Fellow Valentine Romance author Angela Ford's on Tour. Check her out!

Surrender by Angela Ford

A sexy narcotics agent and a rich suburban widow are weaved into a tangled mess…one hot steamy night weaves them into tangled sheets.

SURRENDER

Lauren Reynolds is widowed after an explosion in her husband’s warehouse. She believed he ran a legitimate business. The local police told her it was an accident. On the day of his funeral, there is a knock at her door to tell her different.

Narcotics Agent Brett Donovan has been investigating John Reynolds for the past several months. A drug cartel operation has been tracked out of John’s warehouse. As if that information wasn’t enough to digest, Agent Donovan warns her there was a hit assigned for both Mr. & Mrs. Reynolds.

Brett is assigned to protect the suburban widow. She may be gorgeous but his first impression of her tells him she’s a rich spoiled snob and he has to put up with her. Brett is good at his job. The first attempt on her life fails but Brett knows it’s only the beginning. He takes her into hiding. There’s definite attraction but there’s also secrets that surface as they continue to escape danger.

He lives for danger. She lives for new shoes at Saks. One night in a motel room with no-air-conditioning and a sexy naked agent captures their desire for one another. Will the tangled mess they’re weaved into and their secrets lead them back into tangled sheets?

Is desire enough when they are from two different worlds? Or are they?

Excerpt from Surrender
“You need to relax. Don’t take this the wrong way, but you’re very uptight,” Brett informed her.
“I have every right to be uptight. My husband just died. Someone wants me dead. You’re parading around naked. I’m stuck in a dingy motel room—with no air conditioning I might add.”
“There’s only one way to shut you up.” Brett smiled and took her in his arms quickly and kissed her.
Lauren took a step back and looked at him. She wasn’t sure whether to slap him or kiss him. An inevitable desire to kiss him answered for her. Her hands touched his chest. She felt his heart pound. He hadn’t yet dressed. She felt his arousal against her. His lips parted. His fresh-showered scent drove her senses wild. Nothing else mattered at this moment. Desire overcame her as she met his inviting kiss. His lips brushed against hers as the thought of danger left her thoughts. The fact she’d just buried her husband no longer registered. She opened her mouth to deepen his kiss and the outside world disappeared. She stepped back toward the bed. He followed her lead without letting go of the kiss. A tangled mess led to tangled sheets as they devoured every inch of each other’s bodies.

Surrender can also be found in the Valentine Romance collection.

Review:
Please note that this title can be purchased separately or is one of four (4) short stories in "Valentine Romance: The Best Short Story Romances" by Angela Ford, Jennifer Conner, Sharon Kleve, and Natalie-Nicole Bates. I highly recommend reading all four (4) stories - independently purchased or as a short story collection purchase - "The Best" is an accurate description!

*************
Everett Benedet has determined that a love potion created by Madame Anaosov will be the magic that makes her boss Felix fall in love with her by Valentine's Day. As Everett is consumed with her plan, she doesn't immediately realize that someone else in the office has made some plans of his own to arrange to spend an evening with her to capture her heart.

This story is so much fun to read! Each of the characters in the story adds another layer of delight to the office intrigue and the reader keeps hurrying to turn the page to learn if Everett's plan for Felix will work or if she'll miss the opportunity with coworker Royce that might be the very person that could fulfill all the dreams of her heart.

Everett is one determined young woman who talks over all of her plans with girlfriend Lynne and then completely ignores Lynne's advice. I think every woman has had an experience some time in her life just like that - perhaps being the friend that gave the advice or being the friend that totally ignored the advice! The reader is able to quickly realize that Felix is the last man on earth that one would want Everett to spend an evening with let alone her life. But what about Madame Anaosov's lotion potion? Oh my!

Happy Valentine' Day everyone! And remember - particularly around Valentine's Day - you might want to check and double-check who baked the cookies!
